​For stunning views and scenery many places are only a short drive away. Russborough House 5 mins, Russelstown Park and Lakes 5mins, Barretstown Gang 2 mins, Butterfly farm 25 mins, Sally Cap 40 mins, Wicklow Gap 30 mins, Glendalough Information Centre 25mins, Glendalough Monastic Village 25mins, Glendalough (Lake Car Park) 30 mins, Blessington Lakes 5 mins, Irish National Stud and Japanese Gardens 25 mins. For shopping Kildare Retail outlets 25 mins, Whitewater 25 mins, Avoca, Rathcoole 30 mins, Whitewater, Newbridge 25 Mins, Naas 10 mins, The Square Tallaght 30 mins. For Racecourses; Curragh 20 mins, Naas 10 mins, Punchestown 6 mins. The two nearest cinemas are Odeon Naas 10 mins and Odeon Newbridge 25 mins.  If you wish to leave the car, the 65 bus runs frequently every day and takes the N81 through Blessington and Tallaght into Dublin City Centre. A mini bus leaves for Naas in the morning returning in the afternoon. Don't forget Dublin is only 50 mins drive away with plenty to see and do.  Many other activities can be organised upon request.

History

The beautiful bridge over the River Liffey is a must see while taking the path down by the river, much wildlife can be seen daily including   heron, dippers, swans, ducks, a kingfisher if you're lucky! Watch out for the otters too on an early morning walk.. Across the road is the old Woollen Mill built in 1802 and at one time employed 700 staff it made for a thriving village. St John's church and graveyard dates back to 1192, though the current building was rebuilt in 1820 the many tombstones are clearly visible today.  The Band Hall was rebuilt in 2000 and is home to the Wolfe Tone Brass & Reed Band established in 1875. Along with the band it holds many weekly events now including Badminton, Drama, Bowls, and Irish Dancing. Pipers Stones are just a two minute drive away and Punchestown Longstone about 5 mins. Braveheart was filmed by the river and stars happily mingled with locals during time off filming. Russborough House formerly owned by Lord and Lady Beit is a must visit for art and history lovers, open 7 days a week, its only a 5 minute drive.
